Privacy policy

Bookmarks Backuper ("app") is a browser extension for backing up browser bookmarks.

Privacy is an important part of the app. As bookmarks are a very delicate category of data, the app is initially designed to not store bookmarks data anywhere except locally in the app and/or user's cloud storage(s) account(s), like Google Drive or Dropbox.

How app accesses user data

After the user installs the app and approves bookmarks permission, the app uses the browser's application programming interface ("API") to access bookmarks.

After the user authorizes the app to access their cloud storage account(s), the app uses cloud storage(s) API(s) to access authorization info(s).

How app uses user data

After the user installs the app and approves bookmarks permission, and authorizes the app to access their cloud storage(s) account(s), the app creates a backup file(s) on their behalf with contents of bookmarks’ url, title and bookmarks’ metadata, and then periodically overwrites it(them).

How app stores user data

The app uses browser's storage API to store authorization info(s), information of last backup(s) time(s) and metadata, locally.

The app uses cloud storage(s) API(s) to store bookmarks data, externally.

How app shares user data

For the purposes of app functionality, user data is transferred to cloud storage(s).

For how long app stores user data

Browser storage stores user data until the app is uninstalled from a user's browser.
